Laughter Keeps Us Young

“Laughter is the best medicine” is not just an old, trite expression, it’s the truth!

A simple smile can keep us looking youthful and bright well into old age. Take Mary Maxwell, the Home Instead Senior Care expert “funny lady” who went viral with her fantastic speech about aging three years ago. She currently has her own segment on CaregiverStress.com, “Laughing with Mary.” Mary is a shining example of using humor to fight through the tough times.

Or take Lee and Morty Kaufman, who have recently stepped into their fifteen minutes of fame from their series of cleaning commercials. It’s obvious these two rely on humor to not only keep their 44-year marriage strong, but also to stay young and healthy!

Laughter has many benefits for our mind, body and soul. According to researchers, laughing 100 times is equivalent to 10 minutes on a rowing machine or 15 minutes on the stationary bicycle. Exercise without breaking a sweat? What could be better?!
